Some facts about me

  1. ⚙️ Because I wanted to earn my own money early on, I started vocational training as a mechatronics engineer when I was 16.
  2. 💻 I bought my first shares at the age of 18. At that time, I was guided by books and the first blogs on the internet.
  3. 👨‍🎓 After my apprenticeship, I quickly realized that I wanted to go further. So I went to night school to get my A-Levels and then started studying engineering with a scholarship from the Maybach Foundation (yes, the manufacturer of the luxury cars).
  4. 🇨🇭 All this was in Southern Germany happened. During my studies, my partner then introduced me to the Switzerland and I quickly realised that due to the Swiss franc and other special features, different as in Germany or other Countries invests become should.
  5. 💡 Based on this realisation, I have 2019 in my spare time the Schwiizerfranke finance blog foundedwhich has meanwhile become one of the largest the Switzerland belongs to and focuses exclusively on Finances for people in Switzerland focused.
  6. 🤓 Today I dedicate myself to my mission of Financial education in Switzerland on a full-time basis. In doing so, I also support academic learning platforms such as Fintool.ch and am even certified Investment Advisor (IAF).
  7. ♻️ Wasted study? Not at all! I regularly program free financial calculators for you. Bonus: As an engineer, unlike a banker, I don't speak in financial jargon, but in easy-to-understand language.
  8. 📩 If you want to know more about me, you can find Interview 1 & Interview 2 about me here. I would like to advise you to subscribe to the free Wealth-Letter. There, I will send you my best financial tips free of charge by email once a week!

More details: How Schwiizerfranke came about

Summer 2019, a warm evening in the South of Spain. A friend from Switzerland is marrying her Spanish partner and we are having a proper pre-boda (a pre-wedding party). The tapas are delicious and the wine is not bad either.

During the greeting I get into conversation with a couple from Aarau. We talk about the Travel and Independence and somehow we get to the topic Finance. Maybe because I enjoy the topic, but maybe also because it is actually an important, if sometimes annoying, topic for everyone.

We talk about shares and ETFs and quickly get to the point: if you take up the topic and Google it, you somehow only come across content from Germany. YouTubers and bloggers who describe products and strategies, how they Not accessible to Swiss people at all are!

Traditional Swiss banks charge extremely high fees, ETF savings plans are hardly or only very expensive to find. And the custody account fees alone make investors with a normal income almost forget it.

In addition, the business model of many financial institutions (banks, but also insurance companies) is characterised by the Intransparency is. Hidden fees that make comparisons difficult and complicated jargon to justify expensive products.

When I made my first investment to get closer to my goal of financial freedom, I did it in euros. At that time, I opened a custody account at a low-cost online direct bank and invested soon after.

Why in euros? Not because I wanted to save costs, but because I grew up in Germany. It was only years later that love led me to Switzerland and so my first Swiss account soon followed.

The effort I made and still make to be able to make investments at fair conditions is not small.

The conversation on the Atlantic coast revolved more and more around this problem: lack of information for Swiss who Take responsibility for their finances want.

Maybe it was the wine that made me creative, maybe I needed a new "mission" after the World trip.

In any case, I realise that finance is not a complex subject. You don't have to have studied it, nor do you have to spend a lot of time on it every month. That's also what the biggest, most successful investors of our time say.

And if I (as someone who does NOT come from the banking world) can do my finances loosely in my spare time and even still run this blog -. you can do it too!

Transparency: How this blog is financed

Hundreds, if not Thousands of working hours have meanwhile flowed into this Swiss finance blog.

What is known as my Hobby began, has in the meantime professional Dimensions assumed. Not only the workload, but also the costs for the server, software and financial tools, which you can all use here free of charge, amount to a monthly fee of very high costs.

Without income, I could not afford it. At the same time, the Independence of the blog is very important.

Personally, I don't like the idea of simply displaying advertising banners, as you know it from other platforms. Because then you would suddenly be shown the washing machine that you had previously viewed on Digitec.

Hiding the contributions behind a pay barrier of a subscription model? I don't think that's good for newcomers and especially for young people, because finances are already inconvenient enough for many at the beginning.

The primary source of income for the finance blog is therefore so-called affiliate partnerships. These are advertising partnerships, which are concluded with few, selected and tested advertising partners exist.

How does it work?

  1. Schwiizerfranke checks Regularly different products (e.g. different bank accounts)
  2. If a product is particularly positive stands out and is recommendable, an affiliate partnership is conceivable (the credo is: the product must be so good that it could be recommended to family and closest friends).
  3. When negotiating a partnership with a provider, they will try to find a solution for you. (as readers and potential end customers) a deal in the form of a New customer bonus to be agreed
  4. If you then click on an affiliate link later in a post (which are always marked with an * asterisk), you will receive a link to the site. marked are) and you use the product later, Schwiizerfranke will receive compensation for this.
  5. There is no price disadvantage for you, as the advertising partner pays for it.
  6. As the end customer, you can often make a Promo code and in return you usually receive a starting credit or discounted fees.

By the way: Affiliate advertising is very common on the internet. For example, if you are looking for a hiking route for the weekend and a hiking website links to a new hiking rucksack, this is most likely an affiliate link. Usually these are simply not marked, but on Schwiizerfranke they are.

Part of the proceeds will be donated to a good cause. The largest donation so far went to SOS Children's Villages.

How can I start?

The topic of finance can be complicated, but it doesn't have to be. My tip for beginners is to get a large Set a goal.

This goal will motivate you to deal with the matter. You can find a good first article to start with on the homepage or on the Finance Route!
