With our free IBAN Calculator Switzerland you can check the validity of Swiss IBANs, calculate an IBAN from an account number and BC number or find the BIC/SWIFT code of a bank. The tool contains over 200 Swiss banks and payment institutions - from UBS and Raiffeisen to young neobanks such as Neon, Yuh and Zak.
Status: 2026ย - Bank data official from SIX.ย
Our tool offers three functions in one. Here is a brief guide:
ย
Schwiizerfranke tip: For neobanks such as Neon or Yuh, the tool automatically shows you which partner bank is behind it.
ย
Important: The calculated IBAN is mathematically correct. No IBAN calculator can check whether the account actually exists - only your bank knows that.
ย
Practical tip: You can also search for Neobank names such as ยซNeonยป, ยซZakยป or ยซYuhยป - the tool will automatically find the right partner bank.
Before you make a transfer, you should check the IBAN of the recipient. Our IBAN check checks:
Do you still have an old account number without an IBAN? Our computer will convert it. For this you need:
The tool automatically adds leading zeros and calculates the correct check digit according to the Modulo 97 procedure (ISO 7064).
Example: BC number 700 (ZKB) + account number 1162385295 results in CH93 0070 0011 6238 5295 7.
The digits 5-9 of a Swiss IBAN contain the BC number (bank clearing number or IID). This uniquely identifies the bank. Our tool shows you automatically:
Example: IBAN CH93 0070 0 011 6238 5295 7 โ BC number 700 โ Zรผrcher Kantonalbank, Zurich.
The BIC (Bank Identifier Code), also known as SWIFT code, is an international bank identifier. You need it for:
Good to know: For SEPA transfers within Switzerland and Europe, the IBAN alone is usually sufficient - the BIC is determined automatically.
A Swiss IBAN always has 21 digits and follows this structure:
| Position | Designation | Example | Explanation |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1-2 | Country code | CH | Switzerland (or LI for Liechtenstein) |
| 3-4 | Check digit | 93 | Calculated according to ISO 7064 (Modulo 97) |
| 5-9 | BC number | 00700 | Identifies the bank (here: ZKB) |
| 10-21 | Account number | 011623852957 | Individual account number (12 digits) |
Since the introduction of the QR-bill in Switzerland, in addition to the normal IBAN, there is also the QR-IBAN. The difference:
The QR-IBAN is used if you want to use a structured reference (QR reference) on a QR-bill. The classic IBAN is sufficient for normal transfers.
Important: A QR-IBAN may only be used together with a QR reference - it is not suitable for normal transfers without a reference.
Here you will find the most important BC numbers and BIC codes of the largest Swiss banks:
| Bank | BC no. | BIC/SWIFT | Location |
|---|---|---|---|
| PostFinance | 9000 | POFICHBEXXX | Bern |
| Raiffeisen Switzerland | 80808 | RAIFCH22XXX | St. Gallen |
| UBS Switzerland AG | 230 | UBSWCHZH80A | Zurich |
| Zurich Cantonal Bank | 700 | ZKBKCHZZ80A | Zurich |

| Basel Cantonal Bank | 770 | BKBBCHBBXXX | Basel |
| Cantonal Bank of Berne | 790 | KBBECH22XXX | Bern |
Many Swiss neobanks do not have their own banking licence and use a Partner Bank. That's why your IBAN doesn't say ยซNeonยป, but ยซHypothekarbank Lenzburgยป, for example.
ยซA Schwiizerfranke reader asked: Why does my Neon bill say Hypothekarbank Lenzburg?ยป - It's simple: Neon uses the infrastructure of Hypi Lenzburg. Your money is just as safe there as at any other Swiss bank.
| Neobank | Partner Bank | BR no. | BIC |
|---|---|---|---|
| Neon | Mortgage Bank Lenzburg | 8307 | HYPLCH22XXX |
| Yuh | Swissquote Bank | 8781 | SWQBCHZZXXX |
| Zak | Bank Cler | 8440 | BCLRCHBBXXX |
| Yapeal | Own licence | 83019 | YAPECHZ2XXX |
| Alpian | Own licence | 83039 | ALPICHGGXXX |
| radicant | Own licence (BLKB subsidiary) | 83036 | RADICHZZXXX |
| finpension | Own licence | 83059 | FNPICH22XXX |
I see these mistakes again and again in my community:
1. typing error in the IBAN
Mixing up O and 0, I and 1, or swapped digits. Our IBAN check recognises these errors immediately by validating the check digits.
2. old account number instead of IBAN
Since the introduction of the IBAN, Swiss banks only accept IBANs for payment transactions. Use our calculator to convert your old account number into an IBAN.
3. IBAN from fraudsters
Be careful with invoices by e-mail: Fraudsters often forge invoices and only change the IBAN. Always compare the IBAN with previous invoices or call the sender.
4. confusion with neobanks
ยซI have Neon, but the invoice says Hypothekarbank Lenzburg - is that right?ยป Yes! Neobanks use partner banks, which is why the name is different.

Exactly 21 digits: 2 letters (CH), 2 check digits, 5-digit BC number and 12-digit account number.
In e-banking under ยซAccount detailsยป, on your debit card, on account statements or in your banking app.
The IBAN identifies your account, the BIC (SWIFT code) identifies the bank. You often need both for international transfers.
Yes, the digits 5-9 (BC number) uniquely identify the bank. Our tool automatically shows you the bank and location.
Neon uses the BC number 8307 (Hypothekarbank Lenzburg). The IBAN therefore begins with CH... 0830 7...
PostFinance has the BC number 9000 and the BIC is POFICHBEXXX.
An IBAN with a special QR-IID (BC number 30000-31999) for QR-bills with a structured reference.
No. Our tool only checks the format and the check digit - not whether the account actually exists or who it belongs to. Only the bank itself can do that.
