Smile Auto Insurance at a glance
Smile Auto Versicherung is called "Smile Car" by the provider and is advertised as the most direct car insurance in Switzerland. Smile itself belongs to the Helvetia Group and specializes in direct, digital insurance.
The slogan "Insurance without blah blah blah" is something you will encounter again and again at Smile and is actually implemented. Our many years of experience with Smile Car Insurance have shown that Smile is based on Transparency sets.
Yours You can customise Smile Auto insurance to suit your individual needs. We're not just talking about third-party liability, partial or fully comprehensive cover here. For example, you can insure your bonus level, personal items in the car or even gross negligence. All options are just a click away and the associated costs are displayed directly to you. This allows you to save on fees by only insuring what is really important to you.
What many people don't realise is that the reverse is also true. Those who prefer to play it safe often have to rummage through the small print of other Swiss car insurance policies. Because Every insurance benefit also has its limits. With Smile you know exactly what is covered and can then rely on the insurance cover.
Would you like to learn more about your Smile Car insurance? Then select under the insurance options the option "More setting options". Now you will get to a deeper level with more info and options to set the insurance benefits. You can return at any time by clicking on the "Too much blah?" button.
I've been with Smile for years and am very satisfied. Yes, the service is not always immediately available. But I actually do everything in the app.
I cancelled an insurance policy and had to make a phone call, which took 2 attempts, but then went through quite quickly and the contact person solved everything easily on the phone, without any paperwork.
Decoy offer callback service - availability is zero
Unfortunately, I can't share this experience either:
„Smile actively advertises a callback service in its emails - presumably to keep customers out of the never-answered, chargeable waiting loop. This sounds good in theory, but is a farce in practice: there is no call-back service and it simply does not take place. Legal?
Anyone who tries to solve the problem via chat (Wechat) or email also waits in vain for a response, now for weeks. This form of ignorance towards customer concerns is subterranean and absolutely dubious. An insurer that cannot be contacted in the event of a service case with incomprehensible invoicing and contradictory invoices has failed to fulfil its purpose. I will definitely be cancelling and switching at the next opportunity. Absolutely not recommendable!“
Dear Eric
I'm glad you've had a good experience with SMILE. It's a bit different for me. Admittedly, we don't have the standard situation either. We wanted to insure a camper ("motorhome"). It's perhaps similar to looking for a mortgage for an old farmhouse in the agricultural zone ... not a standard process.
So:
The SMILE website is not designed for motorhomes.
Manuel at SMILE gave me great and friendly advice on the phone on 19 March. He also put together a quote for me by email within 20 minutes. No other insurance company I contacted could do that!
On 23 March I realised that I had given the wrong catalogue price and the value of the additional equipment and asked for a corrected quote by e-mail.
On 2 April, I received an email from Gowsikan (Customer Care) announcing an adjusted offer - it would come in a separate email. But it didn't come. And it wasn't in spam either.
On 3 April, I wrote back that the adjusted offer had not yet arrived.
Today is the 14th of April. I haven't heard anything. Radio silence.
Conclusion: SMILE is probably not for me. I have decided in favour of TCS.
Thanks for sharing, Daniel!
It has worked wonderfully for my "standard" vehicles for years.
